Daphne Fire Logged 481 Incidents in May, Averaged 5:29 Response

Daphne firefighters logged 481 incidents in May 2026 with an average response time of 5 minutes and 29 seconds, according to the monthly report the department submitted to the city's Public Safety Committee. The committee, chaired by District 7 Councilwoman Jennifer Green, took up the figures at its June 8 meeting at 1705 Main St.

Emergency medical service runs drove the bulk of the month's activity, with 303 EMS calls — roughly 63 percent of all incidents. The department also responded to 46 motor vehicle collisions, 43 fire alarm activations, 28 hazardous-condition calls, 27 public service assistance calls, 25 false calls, four brush or trash fires, three vehicle fires, one rescue, and one structure fire, according to the packet prepared by Fire Chief LeAnn Tacon's office.
EMS crews treated 127 patients during May and transported two in the care of Daphne Fire Department paramedics. The remaining patients were turned over to other transport providers operating in the area.
The department provided mutual aid three times during the month — twice to Spanish Fort and once to Belforest — and received three mutual-aid responses in return, two from Fairhope and one from Spanish Fort. Through the first five months of 2026, Daphne has given mutual aid 30 times (15 to Fairhope, eight to Spanish Fort, seven to Belforest) while receiving aid only seven times, a roughly four-to-one ratio in the department's outgoing direction.
Training activity was substantial. Personnel logged 914 hours in May alone, bringing the year-to-date total to 6,031 hours. The department also conducted 17 Candidate Physical Ability Test sessions during the month — part of an ongoing hiring pipeline that has produced 54 CPAT screenings so far this year — and hosted one station tour or apparatus display for the public.
Through the end of May, Daphne Fire has handled 2,619 incidents in 2026 with a year-to-date average response time of 5 minutes and 25 seconds. That total includes 19 structure fires, 25 brush or trash fires, 11 vehicle fires, 1,325 EMS calls, and 191 motor vehicle collisions. EMS personnel have treated 749 patients and transported 19 in the care of department paramedics through the year so far.
